From Idea to Prototype: How We Develop Electronic Puzzles
At EnigMakers, every project starts with a unique idea: your escape game. But how do we turn this idea into electronic puzzles that work seamlessly in your venue? We have a clear and efficient process that guides you through every step to transform your concepts into reality. Here’s how we proceed from the initial idea to the final prototype.
1. Understanding Your Needs and Defining the Project
It all starts with a conversation. Remotely, we discuss with you to understand your vision and needs precisely. We help you define the interactions you want to see in your escape game: puzzles triggered by players’ actions, audio or visual clues, lighting effects, and more. This step is crucial for outlining the main aspects of your project to ensure everything is clear from the beginning.
2. Drafting and Adjusting the Specifications Document
Once your ideas are clarified, we create a detailed specifications document (SD). This document is essential for putting all the interactions and technical requirements in writing. You can adjust this SD with us to ensure it perfectly matches your expectations. This collaborative process ensures that no detail is overlooked before we start the design phase.
3. Preparing the Quote
After the specifications document is approved, we prepare a precise quote that includes the cost of electronic components and labor. Since every project is unique, we ensure that the quote is fully transparent and detailed, with no hidden surprises. You will know exactly where your investment is going and what you will receive in return.
4. Creating the Prototypes
With the specifications document and quote approved, we move on to the prototype creation phase. All necessary components are delivered to us, and we begin assembling and programming the electronic puzzles. This is a critical stage where we test each interaction to ensure it works as intended. Each prototype is refined until we are confident in its reliability and perfect integration into your scenario.
5. Designing and Producing PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards)
Once the prototypes are validated, we proceed with designing the PCBs (printed circuit boards). These circuits are custom-designed to meet the specific needs of your escape game, considering available space, aesthetics, and technical constraints. When the PCBs arrive, we test each component again to ensure everything functions perfectly.
6. Testing and Full Validation of the Room
We don’t stop at creating the electronic puzzles. Once the PCBs are validated, we conduct comprehensive testing of the entire room. This includes not only the puzzles but also integration with other elements (lighting, sound, timers, etc.). We ensure that everything works smoothly and without bugs, providing an immersive and uninterrupted gaming experience.
7. On-Site Installation or Shipping of Components
We offer two options for final setup:
- On-Site Installation: If your location allows, we can come to install each component and verify that everything is in order in your venue. This ensures that the installation is optimized and everything functions as expected.
- Shipping by Mail: If you are further away, we can ship all the components ready for installation, along with detailed instructions. We remain available for any technical assistance needed.
In both cases, a fee for delivery or on-site installation will apply, depending on your preference.
8. Post-Installation Support and Follow-Up
Our work doesn’t end once the installation is complete. We remain available to offer ongoing technical support, whether for minor adjustments, usage questions, or optimizing the puzzles based on player feedback. We want your escape game to be a total success, and we’re here to support you throughout your journey.
